Koru was sitting with hands over his head under a tree. Into a deep sense of regret and mixed feeling his eyes were wet. The God watching from above felt like helping Koru. The God disguised himself as an old man walked towards him.

“Hi man!”- “what’s the matter? You seem tensed?”- The God in a shaky voice pressing his walking cane approached him.

Koru sitting in his position looked up and asked old man to leave with a sign, wiping his nose by other hand.

“what’s the matter?” — The God pressed again.

“What! What!!?, you can’t understand just walk away”- Koru with his angry tone stared at him.

The God keeping his calm — laughing — “if you try to explain me probably, I can understand”

Koru got up with his red face, came as close as possible to old man — “you want to listen? Then listen! I lost my home, my wife, my everything! People say I am drunkard. Yes, I am! People say I gamble Yes, I do! That doesn’t mean God should punish me by taking everything from me. Is it good inface of God? You tell me! Tell me now! See my bad luck. I always pray God when I gamble, but still, he didn’t bless me! I always keep God in my mind whenever I do something see what luck he gave to me?”

After screaming his throat out Koru managed to get back in his earlier position.

“I will be giving you some wealth which I poses, next time when we meet you give it to me, I will take care of luck, don’t worry”- Saying this The God took his path.

Koru smiled at old man’s words, looked at him with anger, wiping his tears stood up and said to old man’s back — “You old man! What help you can do? Just go home drink and sleep. Can’t even walk properly you came to help me”- Koru stomp to walk towards his village with heavy steps making a lot of noise with his anger.

Days Passed, Years Passed — Koru became rich! He had his own villa, his own luxury, a beautiful wife, a happy peaceful life. But, as a saying: “We become what we repeatedly do.”

One fine day Koru sat under the same old tree and started cursing God and everyone.

What a luck I am born in! again I Lost everything!”- Koru banging his head to his hand.

The God disguised as old man approached him again — “You had got everything what’s wrong now?”- “can you give me my part of wealth?”

“Wealth? What wealth!? I thought you had died long back; why you came now asking your wealth? What have you given me? My luck is not with me again”Koru Looked with his red face.

The God laughing at the situation — “I said I will come to you again to get back my wealth. Didn’t I?”

“See! This time I have not gambled, I didn’t even touch alcohol- but I lost everything! My wife cheated on me. She took all my wealth and thrown me out! What can I do? From where I can get…” — before completing the sentence Koru started crying louder. — “my luck! All my bad luck”- and started cursing God.

“Ok be calm! I will give you some more wealth I poses. But next time I want it back”- saying this old man moved on.

Koru flabbergasted for a moment. His curse has turned to praise in no time. Wiping his tears and nose he got his way.

Koru became affluent! Got his own business set up. He got an astute wife who took care of his other businesses. He was happy! He even forgot the old man assuming he will be dead by now.

But the wheel-of-life rotates at its own phase. Koru growing older. His kids were matured enough to take care of business- they pushed him to an old age home, cursing him to die faster!

Koru with his walking stick walked towards the ancient tree where he met the old man. He was laughing at his fate- an experienced tired sigh and smile, but started cursing his luck; sat under the same tree which grew much bigger and home for many birds and animals. Looking at tree Koru said — “not sure when they cut you off you are growing old”

As Koru wiping his tears old man appeared from no where with his walking cane.

“Where is my wealth Koru?”- The old man asked him with a shaky voice.

“What on the earth you are!? You were old when I saw you years back! You are still….” — Koru stood up with all his strength. He awed opening his mouth; His eyes forgot to blink.

The old man laughed and said — “it’s time to give back my wealth!”

Koru unable to utter a word, his tears rolled down over his wrinkled cheeks. — “I… I… lost everything again…”- He mumbled.

The God smiled and said — “oh! God! Bad luck!” and moved on.
